As part of our 2026 rebrand, you’ve probably noticed that we’ve changed the names of our tricycle models. Gone are the JMT and JETs to be replaced by tricycle names that truly reflect the Viking heritage of our home city. Drawing inspiration from the York’s deep cultural roots and long-standing traditions, each name is derived from Old Norse language and carries a deep meaning that links to the tricycle.

We also used Rune lettering to inspire the distinctive “J” in our new logo, creating a visual link between our past and our future. Runes have been used throughout history as symbols of identity and craftsmanship, and this connection aligns perfectly with our commitment to modernising a classic mode of transport.

Rida

Meaning: to ride

Rida means exactly what it sounds like: to ride. It’s a no-frills, straightforward name that captures the essence of what these tricycles are all about – getting on, getting going and enjoying the freedom of an electric ride.

Ride to the shops, ride to the countryside, ride to the allotment, ride wherever you please. Wherever you’re headed, these everyday tricycles are built to take you there. They’re easy to store, easy to ride and our most budget-friendly electric tricycle, designed to make the joy of three wheels accessible to more people than ever.

Drakkar

Meaning: Viking ship; a longship built for fearless exploration

Named after the leading ship in the Viking fleet, complete with its iconic dragon-headed bow, our Drakkar range embodies the spirit of fearless exploration. Vikings used these ships to push beyond the horizon, discover new lands and carve their own path - and these tricycles are designed with that same adventurous mindset.

A drakkar traditionally symbolised something that never stays still for long, always travelling and seeking fresh pastures. These tricycles are built for exactly that. Off-road adventures, days at the beach, woodland trails, fishing trips and excursions into uncharted terrain – a Drakkar will get you there with ease, comfort and confidence.

Reimagined for today’s world, these off-road mountain tricycles capture the essence of Viking resilience and discovery, empowering riders to venture further and forge their own way.

Vandra

Meaning: to wander; to travel

Derived from the word meaning “to wander,” Vandras are made for those who aren’t content with just cycling from their doorstep. If you want a tricycle you can fold, store and take anywhere, a Vandra is your perfect companion.

Lightweight and ready to travel, they’re built to explore - wherever the journey leads. Our smallest frame features quick-release folding and handlebars, creating a compact tricycle that’s easy to pop in the boot and take on your next adventure. Vandra also offers exceptional stability, giving you confidence whether you're roaming country lanes, coastlines or city streets.

Designed for riders who love to wander, Vandra makes every place feel within reach.

Why Make These Changes Now?

At Jorvik Tricycles, we’ve been on a journey of growth ever since the first tricycle was built, growing a community of tens of thousands of tricycle owners. In 2025, we opened our Southampton showroom, our first outside of York, and advertised on TV for the very first time. As Jorvik Tricycles begins to spread across the UK, we felt it was the perfect time to take another look at our brand and further align ourselves with our York roots.

Not only that, but we’ve also simplified our range of tricycles in order to make it easier to understand the benefits of each model and how it might work for you. You can view our buying guide and use the interactive tool to help you get started on your journey to choosing the right trike.

There’s really no better way to get to know our tricycles than a test ride. You can book a completely free one-to-one test ride at one of our showrooms or request a home demonstration today by clicking here.
